Outstanding Jazz ArtistDeniss Pashkevich is an exceptional saxophonist, flautist, composer, producer, and educator who has significantly contributed to the development of contemporary jazz and improvisation. He is a unique artistic phenomenon in the Baltic region and one of the few musicians from this area included in the European jazz family tree as a founding figure of jazz in Latvia.
For over 30 years, Deniss Pashkevich has inspired audiences worldwide with his vibrant personality and musical mastery. He has performed across Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, and the United States, making his concert performances a vital part of the music culture. His concerts invite audiences to embark on an exciting musical journey that blends jazz traditions with new, innovative means of expression.
Album Successes and AwardsDeniss's musical mastery and creativity have been appreciated both in Latvia and internationally. In 2017 his album “Yours Faithfully” won The Latvian Annual Music Recording Award "Zelta mikrofons" (known as "Latvian Grammy") for the best jazz album. In 2019 album "Variations" that is recored together with Vyacheslav Ganelin and Arkady Gotesman got 4 star review on one of the most prestigious magazines "Downbeat" and got included in their "2019: The Year’s Top-Rated Albums" and got rewarded as the best jazz album in Latvia. In his career Deniss Pashkevich recorded more than 80 albums.
Collaboration with World-Class Musicians and BrandsHe regularly plays together with world class players such as Randy Brecker, Seamus Blake, Aaron Parks, Jackie Terrasson, Tim Hagans and many more and visited festivals all over the world. Deniss is an ambassador for internationally recognized brands, including Marca Reeds (France), Kay Siebold Mouthpieces (Germany), TT Mouthpieces (Italy), Erica Synths (Latvia), Gamechanger Audio (Latvia), Arturia (France) and Riga Winds Saxophones (UK/Latvia).
Educator, Innovator and VisionaryAs pedagogy Deniss Pashkevich has more than 18 years experience. He is open for online lessons, workshops for saxophone, flute, improvisation as well as combo and big band playing technics. Throughout his career, Deniss has successfully managed and produced more than 10,000 jazz and free improvisation concerts, tours, masterclasses, and cultural events as a producer, artistic director, and curator. Historically and professionally, he has played an active role in several venues and initiatives that have been essential to the development of Latvian jazz and contemporary music culture. These include serving as artistic director of Dizzy Jazz and Casablanca, co-founder and artistic director of Sunny Terrace, as well as founder and director of the Pashkevich Jazz Club in Riga.This represents only part of his broader professional activity. Today, he continues to develop and expand this experience through Jazz Room Fest and Riga Room Records.As the founder of the concert agency Riga Room, the record label Riga Room Records, and the jazz, electro-acoustic and improvised music festival Jazz Room Fest, Deniss has devoted much of his creative energy to the development of the Baltic jazz scene. Jazz Room Fest is part of the World Jazz Network, supporting global collaboration among artists and enriching the jazz culture.
