jazz musician / composer / sound designer
Teaching, mentoring & advisory
Deniss Pashkevich offers online and face-to-face teaching, masterclasses, creative camps, artist mentoring, organisational training and strategic consulting for musicians, schools, cultural institutions, companies, public sector organisations and creative teams.
His work brings together instrumental mastery, jazz language, active listening, ensemble practice, electroacoustic music, modular synthesis, DAW-free performance systems, music management, leadership development, HR thinking and the practical architecture of teams and organisations.
This is not only technical education. It is a structured process for developing sound, musical thinking, creative identity, stage presence, professional discipline and the ability to function with clarity in contemporary artistic, cultural, institutional and business environments.
Music teaching & artistic development
Deniss Pashkevich works with musicians who want to develop sound, language, improvisational freedom, listening discipline, ensemble awareness and a mature artistic identity.
The teaching process is practical, structured and adapted to the individual musician. It is based on the idea that musical education is not only the acquisition of repertoire or technique, but the development of the whole artistic system: ear, sound, body, rhythm, thought, discipline, decision-making and communication.
The aim is to help the musician hear more deeply, think more clearly, respond faster, build a personal sound and perform with artistic responsibility in real musical situations.
Jazz improvisation & contemporary music practice
Improvisation is taught as a living language rather than as a random act of spontaneity. The focus is on sound, rhythm, phrasing, melodic development, harmonic awareness, form, interaction and the development of a personal voice.
The lessons include jazz vocabulary, blues language, standards, modal thinking, motivic development, transcription, rhythmic placement, time feel, solo construction, spontaneous composition, free improvisation and the ability to build meaningful musical statements in real time.
The programme is suitable for musicians of any instrument who want to develop improvisational fluency and a deeper relationship with contemporary music practice.
Saxophone, flute & instrumental technology
Students work on sound production, breath control, articulation, finger technique, intonation, reeds, mouthpieces, instrument response, stage sound, recording situations and the development of a sustainable personal practice system.
The aim is not only to improve technique, but to create a reliable relationship between the musician, the instrument and the artistic intention behind the sound.
Jazz harmony, listening & music history
Jazz harmony is approached as a listening discipline, not only as a theoretical system. The aim is to help the musician hear structure, recognise movement, understand form and make intelligent musical decisions in real time.
This includes chord structures, harmonic functions, substitutions, modal harmony, blues forms, rhythm changes, jazz standards, melodic analysis, historical styles, active listening and the study of key recordings in jazz, improvised and contemporary music.
Listening is treated as a professional skill. The musician learns to know what is happening, to hear why it happens and how to respond musically.
Ensemble, combo & big band practice
Deniss works with small and large ensembles, student groups, professional bands, combos and big bands. The focus is on interaction, time, arrangement awareness, balance between soloist and ensemble, section playing, rehearsal discipline, programme development and performance readiness.
The central question is how musicians listen to each other, support each other and create a common musical direction while still maintaining individual artistic responsibility.
Electroacoustic music, modular synthesis & DAW-free performance systems
The lessons are for musicians who wish to integrate acoustic instruments into electronic and electroacoustic environments.
The aim is to develop an approach where technology does not replace musicianship, it expands listening, form, space and live performance presence.
This area is especially relevant for musicians working with saxophone, flute, voice, acoustic instruments, electronics, modular systems, live processing and contemporary performance formats.
